AM Drop Off
From Buses: Students will be allowed off the bus to eat breakfast in the cafeteria at 8:00 am each day. Students are to enter directly into the school and go immediately to the cafeteria if they are eating breakfast. For those families that will take advantage of eating breakfast, please drop off your student at the main entrance where they will enter and head directly to the cafeteria.
Students who will not be eating breakfast will be allowed off the buses at 8:10 am to head to the blacktop/ playground area.
From Parent Drop Off: Parents will enter into the flow of traffic and turn onto school grounds. If you plan to park and walk your child onto the blacktop/playground area PLEASE USE THE DESIGNATED CROSS WALK to get your child across the parking lot safely.
If you plan to “Hug and Go” (drop off your student(s) without getting out of the car) use the right lane closest to the curb. Please carefully pull away from the curb after stopping and allowing your child out of the car. DO NOT PARK YOUR CAR IN THE “HUG AND GO” LANE. It is considered a fire lane and you can be ticketed. Slowly pull back into the flow of the parking lot towards the exit. There is only one entrance/exit to Turnberry’s parking lot. Please abide the traffic rules.
All Students: The warning bell will ring at 8:25 each morning. This bell indicates that morning recess is over and it is time for students to line up and prepare for a day full of thinking. There are designated areas where teachers will wait for students to line up. The teacher will gather the students and walk into the building by 8:30am in order to begin the day.
If a student arrives after 8:30am, a parent will need to sign the student into the office. Expect to park and escort your child into the building after 8:30am.
Morning Kinder Arrival: Kinder students will go to the playground along with the rest of the students. There will be designated adults supervising the students. There is a fenced in playground specific for kinders at Turnberry.
Morning Kinder Dismissal: Students will be escorted by a para from their classroom to either the bus or parent pick up area.
Afternoon Kinder Arrival: Kinder students that arrive from the buses will be picked up and taken to the playground area. Parents that either park their car and escort their children, or who choose to “Hug and Go” will have the children meet a para who will walk the students to the kinder playground and begin playing. The kindergarten teachers will meet the kinders at the 12:30 in the designated arrival area.
PM Pick Up
There is absolutely no PARKING in the “Hug and Go” lane. It is considered our fire lane and the Commerce City Police Department has the right to ticket you for this. Please pull into a parking spot if you plan on getting out of your vehicle.
Grades 1-5: Teachers will dismiss students as a class.
Kinder and 1st grade students will be escorted by their teacher to either the buses or the pick-up areas.
2nd through 5th grade students will be dismissed from their classrooms. Students will exit through the west doors if they are going to the buses, and the east doors if they are going to pick-up. Students in after-care are to exit through the east pick-up doors and enter after care through southeast entrance by the cafeteria.
PLEASE set a designated location OUTSIDE the building for your students to meet up with each other as well as YOU. The blacktop is a great place as well as the fence by the kindergarten playground. Parents picking up students will be asked to remain outside on warm weather days. Please designate a location so that students do NOT go anywhere without you.
Those riding a bus will head directly to the bus puck up area and immediately get on a bus. Students meeting family members for a ride home will head directly to the parent pick up area. Students walking home will head out the east doors of the building and follow the sidewalk to the designated crosswalk. Parents who plan to meet their student(s) at a designated location on the school grounds, please make sure to PARK your car in the PARKING LOT before meeting your child.
Full Day and Afternoon Kinder Dismissal: The kindergarten teachers will walk the students out of the east doors to be picked-up by parents. Students who ride the bus will be escorted to the buses by other kindergarten teachers. Students that will be picked up by a family member will be escorted by a teacher to the parent pick up area and handed over to a parent/guardian. Parents who plan to meet their student(s) at a designated location on school grounds, please PARK your car in the PARKING LOT before meeting your student. Cars parked in the fire lane may be ticketed by the Commerce City Police Department.
